Information & Communication Technology ICT
Purpose: To support the Municipality’s use of technology to improve efficiency, provide better services, and ensure the security and integrity of digital assets.
Functions:
1.Information Management: The ICT department is responsible for managing and organizing the municipality's information and data.
2.Technology Infrastructure: Maintains and manages the municipality's technology infrastructure, including servers, networks, hardware, and software systems.
3.Cybersecurity: The ICT department is responsible for protecting the municipality's digital assets from cyber threats, such as viruses, malware, and hacking attempts.
4.System Development and Maintenance: The department may be involved in developing and maintaining software applications and systems that are specific to the municipality's needs.
5.User Support: The ICT department provides technical support to municipality employees, help users troubleshoot hardware and software issues and offer training.
6.Compliance and Regulation: Ensures that the municipality complies with relevant laws and regulations regarding data protection, privacy, and technology standards.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity: Responsible for developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans to ensure that critical systems can be restored in case of a major disruption, such as a natural disaster or a cyberattack.
